Project Esperanza began as a Virginia Tech student organization in 2006 and quickly turned into a non-profit organization that has been serving the Haitian immigrant/refugee population of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic ever since. The dove flying over the island of Hispaniola represents peace and restoration.
